The call came in on a Wednesday evening in early June. Seven immigrant families suddenly quarantined because of the coronavirus needed meals. Could we help?

No committees were formed. No task force was assembled. No memos went out. Instead, our team stepped into action. Ian Malin of Little Giant, who oversees production and operations for Cooking for Community, took it upon himself to coordinate and begin delivering the meals the next day. These 29 people, who otherwise might not have had access to food, were provided warm, culturally appropriate meals within hours. Delivery to these families will continue throughout their two-week quarantine period.

“This is perfect example of our nimbleness, flexibility, and the incredible generous will of our restaurant partners,” says Dr. Caroline Teschke, Cooking for Community Agency Partnership Lead. “A heartfelt thanks to everyone who pulled this together.”
